Bulky pickup in Rochester
Mattresses, furniture, and many appliances — city bulk or drop-off, not the regular cart.
Official source:
Rochester mattresses are free on your regular refuse collection day. Set out by 6:30 a.m. alongside trash. On-Demand bulky pickup is $80 minimum — call 585-428-6928. Mattress and box spring follow the same free refuse-day path.
TVs, computers, and electronics. Usually banned from trash and the blue bin.
Official source:
Electronics including mixed e-waste are BANNED from Rochester curbside. Free drop-off at Monroe County ecopark — 10 Avion Drive — Wed 1:00–6:30 p.m., Sat 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. No appointment needed for e-waste. Wipe data before drop-off.
Construction debris, concrete, and remodel waste — transfer station or roll-off.
Official source:
Contractor construction debris is not typical Rochester refuse-day bulk. Hire a private C&D hauler for remodel loads. Route liquid paint/chemicals to ecopark HHW separately.
Cart recycling, store film take-back, and foam rules — not a second bulky program.
Official source:
Rochester recycling carts do not want expanded polystyrene (EPS). White block foam, packing peanuts, and food trays are different streams. Grocery film/bag bins are not a foam drop-off. City of Rochester — Residential refuse is the official Rochester program we verified — if that page only mentions plastic bags or film, treat block foam and food trays as bagged garbage unless it names a foam densifier. Clean peanuts may be reused at a shipper; starch peanuts are not EPS.
