Bulky pickup in Pittsburgh
Mattresses, furniture, and many appliances — city bulk or drop-off, not the regular cart.
Official source:
Pittsburgh DPW accepts mattresses on weekly curbside bulk refuse — up to 2 bulk items per week. Seal mattresses in plastic if bedbugs are present. Freon appliances and electronics are NOT curbside bulk — use Noble Environmental or PRC events.
Household hazardous waste — used oil, paint, propane, batteries, and chemicals.
Official source:
Noble Environmental HHW 3001 Railroad St accepts household hazardous materials Tue/Thu 2:30–6:30 p.m. by appointment; fees by pound. Used motor oil at Noble HHW.
TVs, computers, and electronics. Usually banned from trash and the blue bin.
Official source:
Electronics including mixed e-waste are banned from Pittsburgh curbside refuse. Use Noble Environmental or PRC e-waste collection events — fees apply. Wipe data before drop-off.
Cart recycling, store film take-back, and foam rules — not a second bulky program.
Official source:
Pittsburgh recycling carts do not want expanded polystyrene (EPS). White block foam, packing peanuts, and food trays are different streams. Grocery film/bag bins are not a foam drop-off. City of Pittsburgh — Curbside refuse is the official Pittsburgh program we verified — if that page only mentions plastic bags or film, treat block foam and food trays as bagged garbage unless it names a foam densifier. Clean peanuts may be reused at a shipper; starch peanuts are not EPS.
