Harris County Household Hazardous Waste Facility. This page is the suburban / county program for the Houston metro — not a “near me” material hub and not the city dispose page.
Harris County residents who live outside incorporated Houston — people who do not receive City of Houston water, trash, or recycling.
City of Houston residents use Environmental Service Centers, not the county Hahl Road facility.
Where: 6900 Hahl Road, Houston, TX 77040 (290 and Gessner).
How to use it: Appointment only. Tue/Wed 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; 2nd and 4th Saturdays 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Precinct HazMobile events in spring and fall.
Cost: No charge for qualifying household waste. Confirm on the county page. We do not invent fees.
Typically accepted: Household chemicals, paint, batteries, aerosols, small propane, mercury items, limited tires. Household use only.
Typically refused: TVs and computers, sharps, smoke detectors, explosives, appliances, furniture, trash, and business waste.
Pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, and gasoline belong on this county program when the official list says so — they are not a second city bulky day.
