Houston lists mattresses and box springs as junk waste. Eligible curbside addresses get heavy trash every other month (up to six curbside heavy-trash collections per year). Look up your day in HTX Collects / the city service lookup. You can also take mattresses to a Neighborhood Depository (typically Tue–Sat; confirm hours) up to four times per month with matching Texas ID + Houston utility bill/lease.
Household hazardous waste — used oil, paint, propane, batteries, and chemicals.

Houston heavy-trash rules limit building materials on residential junk-waste set-outs and require loose materials such as sheetrock to be bagged. Contractor debris is the contractor’s responsibility. Keep paint/chemicals for ESC HHW.

Houston collects tree waste on the heavy-trash cycle (tree waste vs junk waste alternate by month). Tree waste means clean wood waste — limbs/branches/stumps; furniture and treated wood are not tree waste. Look up your schedule in HTX Collects. Depositories also accept tree waste with residency proof.

Do not put EPS blocks, peanuts, or food trays in the film drop-off or in curbside recycling. Bag foam for trash unless SWMD names a foam densifier.
