Bulky pickup in Chesapeake
Mattresses, furniture, and many appliances — city bulk or drop-off, not the regular cart.
Official source:
Chesapeake mattresses use free scheduled bulk collection — call 757-382-2489. Maximum 12 bulk pickups per year. Pile size limit 4×4×10 feet. TVs and tires are NOT bulk.
TVs, computers, and electronics. Usually banned from trash and the blue bin.
Official source:
Chesapeake electronics including mixed e-waste are NOT accepted on scheduled bulk. Use SPSA — 901 Hollowell Lane — 1st Wednesday and 3rd Saturday 9:00 a.m.–noon. Limit 5 items per visit. Wipe data before drop-off.
Construction debris, concrete, and remodel waste — transfer station or roll-off.
Official source:
Construction debris is not Chesapeake scheduled bulk material. Hire a private C&D hauler for remodel loads. Route paint/chemicals to SPSA HHW separately.
Cart recycling, store film take-back, and foam rules — not a second bulky program.
Official source:
Chesapeake recycling carts do not want expanded polystyrene (EPS). White block foam, packing peanuts, and food trays are different streams. Grocery film/bag bins are not a foam drop-off. City of Chesapeake — Bulk Trash Collection is the official Chesapeake program we verified — if that page only mentions plastic bags or film, treat block foam and food trays as bagged garbage unless it names a foam densifier. Clean peanuts may be reused at a shipper; starch peanuts are not EPS.
