Bulky pickup in Norfolk
Mattresses, furniture, and many appliances — city bulk or drop-off, not the regular cart.
Official source:
Norfolk mattresses require scheduled bulk pickup via MyNorfolk or 757-664-6510 by 3:00 p.m. the day before collection. Free when scheduled — up to 12 pickups/year, 3 cubic yards each. Set out on scheduled day only.
TVs, computers, and electronics. Usually banned from trash and the blue bin.
Official source:
Electronics including mixed e-waste are NOT accepted on Norfolk scheduled bulk. Drop at SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station — 3136 Woodland Ave — Tue & Sat 12:00–4:00 p.m. Norfolk residents; limit 5 items/visit. Wipe data before drop-off.
Construction debris, concrete, and remodel waste — transfer station or roll-off.
Official source:
Contractor construction debris exceeds Norfolk scheduled bulk limits (3 cy). Hire a private C&D hauler for remodel loads. Route paint/chemicals to SPSA HHW separately.
Cart recycling, store film take-back, and foam rules — not a second bulky program.
Official source:
Norfolk recycling carts do not want expanded polystyrene (EPS). White block foam, packing peanuts, and food trays are different streams. Grocery film/bag bins are not a foam drop-off. City of Norfolk — Trash & Recycling is the official Norfolk program we verified — if that page only mentions plastic bags or film, treat block foam and food trays as bagged garbage unless it names a foam densifier. Clean peanuts may be reused at a shipper; starch peanuts are not EPS.
