Accepted examples include furniture, mattresses, box springs, major appliances, e-waste (TV/monitor/computer), water heaters, and BBQ grills without propane. Place items curbside before 6:00 a.m. on the appointment day with ~5 ft clearance. City also hosts periodic bulky drop-off events — confirm dates on city notices.

Do not put HHW in Bakersfield trash or bulky setouts. Kern County residents can drop residential hazardous waste free at the Bakersfield Special Waste Facility, 4951 Standard Street (Standard & Foster), Mon–Sat 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Accepted examples include paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, batteries, antifreeze, used oil/filters, BBQ/camping propane, fluorescents, sharps, and many electronics. Limit 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle trip; no container over 5 gallons.
