LA Sanitation (LASAN) picks up bulky household items — mattresses, furniture, carpet, toilets, and more — for residents it serves. Schedule at least one business day before your regular trash day via MyLA311, the online request form, or 1-800-773-2489. Collection is on your normal refuse day. LASAN also runs monthly bulky drop-off events at five city yards (confirm flyer dates).
Household hazardous waste — used oil, paint, propane, batteries, and chemicals.

Do not trash HHW in Los Angeles. LA residents drop household hazardous waste and many electronics at S.A.F.E. Centers (paint, motor oil, propane tanks, needles/sharps, batteries, chemicals, e-waste). Centers are free permanent weekend sites citywide — check lacitysan.org/safecenters for the nearest site and hours. Mobile HHW events also run periodically.
